What is Common Service Centre (CSC)?

Common Service Centre (CSC) is a service delivery point in rural areas for delivery of Government, social and private sector services in the segments of agriculture, health, education, entertainment, FMCG products, banking and financial services, utility payments, eCommerce etc and CSCs are developed and regulated by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). CSC is also called a citizen service point.

 

Application for CSC

One may apply for registration at this portal by providing the required data. But before registration one shall complete an online course an assessment test by registering with a fee of approximately 1,500 rupees. There are 10 simple assessment tests that can be completed online in 4 hours.

 

The beauty of the course is that one will get Enterpernureship course certificate from the Indian School of Business (ISB). The content, syllabus and the assessments are designed and developed by ISB along with CSC Academy.

a) Applicant photo

c) PAN

d) Aadhaar

e) Cancelled copy of cheque/passbook

f) Email ID and phone number 

 

System requirements for CSC outlets

a) At least 120 GB Hard Disc Drive.

b) At least 512 MB RAM.

c) CD / DVD Drive.

d) UPS PC with Licensed Windows XP-SP2 or above operating system.

e) With 4 hrs battery backup/Portable Genset.

f) Printer / Colour Printer.

g) Webcam/digital camera.

h) Scanner.

i) Internet connection with at least a 128 kbps speed for browsing and data uploading over the internet.

J) An office with a small area and furniture

  1. 52 Central Government Services are available on CSC National Portal. 
  2. 20 – 170 Services from state governments
  3. Agriculture Services (Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Veterinary)
  4. Education and Training Services (School, College, Vocational Education, Employment, etc.)
  5. Health Services (Telemedicine, Health Check-ups, Medicines)
  6. Rural Banking and Insurance Services (Micro-credit, Loans, Insurance)
  7. Entertainment Services (Movies, Television)
  8. Utility Services (Bill Payments, Online bookings)
  9. Commercial Services (DTP, Printing, Internet Browsing, Village level BPO).
  10. Ecommerce services
  11. Bus/train ticket booking
  12. GST and IT Return Filings
  13. Business services like registration of Business / Firm / Partnership Firm etc
  14. Insurance policies
  15. Sale of mutual funds
  16. Open DEMAT Accounts
  17. PAN Applications
  18. Aadhaar Update
  19. Passport Applications
